Many people who play college ball are recruited when they are in high school. If a student or team catches the eye of major colleges or football coaches, they will go and watch a game. They will determine if the player is good enough just to try out for the team. They are not guaranteed a spot on the team. The only thing that can guarantee a student a spot on the team is if they show dedication and skill at camp before the season starts. Colleges recruit for just more than football, but because the media has hyped the importance of the game, it is one of the main sports. Playing football for a college will make you have high expectations for yourself. The coach and school expects a lot of football players because they all want to go to the Rose Bowl or at least place for a bowl.
When it comes to recruiting football students from high schools only the best on the team will get noticed. The worse part is that the recruiter or coach knows what he needs because of the performance from current players, that they may not look at certain students based on their position. However, saving the day at a game with recruiters wouldn't be a bad idea. To get scholarships and offers to play college ball takes skills. However, when you are being recruited for professional ball, you not only need skill but a strong personality. When recruiters are looking for professional players, they go to college games and focus one or two players that they keep hearing about. Everyone wants to go pro, but not everyone has what it takes. Many times recruiters go and do not even offer a deal because the player ends up to not be what they expected. This can put a lot of stress on a player and performance anxiety forms and the player could lose an offer that would affect their entire lives because of one game. The whole point of scouting out college or high school teams is so that the school can find an advantage. Every college or professional teams needs and advantage over the others and the can do that be simply having the best. That is why only the best get recruited and unfortunately only the best of the best get to stay. |
