In the U.S., more than 1 million of the high-school athletes are a part of the sport, American football. Some of these students engage so much in it that they do not put as much importance into the academic part of high-school; this is because, winning or losing a football game in high-school means so much that it could make you feel like a big star or the famous loser of the year. To them, being a district champ is like being a Super Bowl champ.

However, football can get students into a good college. Scouts go around checking out high school football players in order to find a star. The most talented high school players usually are offered scholarships to play football in college. Hence, by being good at sport or at football, there is quite a good opportunity for the student to go to a good university and to be offered a scholarship. However, if you aren’t as good as you would like to be in football, then for a high-school student it is best that you rather get a good education (academically) for university.

In conclusion, if you were on the verge of planning to commit your time and life to football; take a step back, and consider carefully keeping everything from your talent to the risk you’re willing to take. Weigh their importance according to what you value in life the most. The students themselves, of course, aren’t usually mature enough to think and decide of such big commitments in life. Consulting is needed, grasp it from anywhere and everywhere. Committing and dedicating yourself to football or any other sport where you want to turn pro; is a big step. And you need more than yourself and your own thoughts to decide on it.
