The football is the most popular sports not only in Great Britain but also in the whole world. In fact the English are great lovers of competitive sports. They like to play games, to watch the number-one spectator team sport or at least to talk about them.

Playing football in Britain is considered by many fans as the paradise of the apprentice. Football is the modern world’s game which and Great Britain was the home of these sports. In fact the Football is the best example of modern world’s game among the tennis, horse-racing, and rowing. Although cricket is peculiarly associated with England, still foot ball is not far behind that. Football is played almost in schools, colleges, universities and between club teams all over the country in Britain.

Football is played from the late August until early May in Great Britain. There are also lots of amateur football clubs in this country, but professional football is a big business for them. There is at least one professional football club in every large town in this country. The Cup Final match is the great event of the football year.

There is another football type game played in this country is Rugby football which is played with an egg shaped ball, which may be carried and thrown but not forward. Even there is a professional League rugby in the north of this country, but mainly rugby football is played by amateurs.

Anyhow the game is a team sport. The chief object of the football sport is to manipulate the football into the opponent’s end zone and score points. The ball can be advanced by carrying it or passing it to a teammate. Points are scored by carrying the ball into the end zone, passing it to a teammate past the goal line or kicking it between the goal posts. The team that has scored the highest points when the time expires is declared the winner. Moreover the college football is the most prestigious individual achievement award in Great Britain. This game is highly publicized, ceremoniously presented, and football fans everywhere anticipate it, sometimes debate the outcome, and always revere it’s tradition.

In conclude we can say English cannot claim that they have surpassing skills in any form of sports when they take part in international competition. It may be football, tennis, cricket, horse riding or it may be fishing competition, English are always trying put all their efforts bravely and courageously in every sports. But they care strongly about the: sporting spirit", the capacity to play with respect for the rules and the opponents, to win with modesty and to lose with dignity.
