Betting on football games has been around since the 1900's. Not only it is popular amongst the fans or audiences, but also popular, strangely, amongst the players themselves.

Players or coaches or anyone at all that plays a role and has a position in a team, but gambles with football game is the most disgraceful act. Recently, some of the teams in Italy Soccer league that has been involved with gambling are being seriously investigated.

It is completely unethical when it comes to players gambling, especially if they're betting against their own team. Some baseball players and coaches were even thrown out of the hall of fame because one little bet that disgraced the league.

Gambling is only legal if it is licensed, of course. Football gambling pools are very common, especially in work places; however, they're normally not licensed and hence, are prohibited. Places like Las Vegas and MGM Grand takes bets on sport events because they are legal with a gambling license. Leaving that aside, talking about the nature of football gambling itself, it is unethical for a football fan to bet on a football game.

The fact that you're a fan of the game and also making money out of it is very contradictory of your own philosophy. Are you here for the enjoyment and love of the game, or for the love of risk? If you were here for both, then you are an unethical human being and shouldn't call yourself a football lover, but rather a risk-lover.
