It might surprise you to know that football is a very ancient game. Yes, the origin of football can be traced thousands of years back. Archaeological evidences suggest that ball games similar to that of football were a part of ancient Chinese and Egyptian civilizations. Even Greek, Roman and Japanese civilizations had some or the other form of football as a common sport. Over the years football has evolved to its present form. No one is sure as to how or where this game originated.

Football flourished in England around the eighth century BC. Football was initially played among the peasant class. It was the tillers of the soil who played the football in the old days. It was a rural custom hardly ever played in the cities. The games were played in a disorganized manner. They could even get violent. There were no rules and regulations. Even a thousand players could play in one match. Slowly the game began to be more organized and played between teams. In the 11th century rival villages would play games against each other. There was no clearly defined playing ground. It would be played all over the place on streets and fields destroying fences and hedges and even disrupting people’s business. The game was violent. Opponents kicked and punched each other all the time.

Football gambling is realy popular, especially if it is important game like the Super Bowl.  Betting on games has been around since the early 1900's and several players have been banned from the sport because of it. When it comes to betting or gambling on games, it is only legal to place a bet if the place has a gambling license.  Work places that allow their employees to have pools are legally not aloud, because they don't have a license to gamble.  When it comes to the players gambling, it is unethical.  It is unethical for players to place bets, especially against the team. If a player would place a bet against their team, they would be considered a disgrace and might be legally held to throwing the game.

Football Recruiting

Many people who play college ball are recruited when they are in high school.  If a student or team catches the eye of major colleges or football coaches, they will go and watch a game.  They will determine if the player is good enough just to try out for the team.  They are not guaranteed a spot on the team.  The only thing that can guarantee a student a spot on the team is if they show dedication and skill at camp before the season starts.  Colleges recruit for just more than football, but because the media has hyped the importance of the game, it is one of the main sports.  Playing football for a college will make you have high expectations for yourself.  The coach and school expects a lot of football players because they all want to go to the Rose Bowl or at least place for a bowl.
